The New York Arab-American Comedy Festival presents the Ahmed & Jamila Caption Competition — a chance for creative people out there to leave their mark on the Festival website and win free tickets to the Film Night and Closing Party at Sugars in New York City — airline tickets not included (we are boor and have no money). Try your hand out at giving our intrepid Ahmed and Jamila something to think and say, and let the sultans of comedy judge you worthy!

Rules and Disclosures

1. Entries relate to the photo that appears above. Examples of existing captions can be seen in the rotating header on the About the Festival section of this website.

2. Entries must consist of one or two short quips (by either or both Ahmed & Jamila) to a maximum of 100 characters, including spaces, per quip. Quips can appear in either thought or speech bubbles. A character does not have to speak but — WAIT! — someone has already submitted the obvious one with complete silence from both Ahmed and Jamila, and it wasn' t that funny the first time

Please submit entries that clearly specify who is saying/thinking the quip text, for example:

JAMILA (SPEAKING):
"HABIBI! LOOK AT THE GIANT GORILLA COMING ACROSS THE DRIVE-IN... IT CRUSHES EVERYTHING IN ITS PATH!"

AHMED (THINKING):
"@#$*&!! IT'S IMMI! SHE WILL KILL ME FOR DATING JAMILA!'

3. Entries must be submitted via e-mail to competition@arabcomedy.org by 11:59PM EST, Sunday 6 November 2005. Multiple entries are acceptable. All entries must include captions, and the name and e-mail address of the person submitting the caption.

4. Entries will be judged by a panel of Comedy Festival Producers. The judges' decision is final. Winners will be notified before the 2005 New York Arab-American Comedy Festival.

5. All three top winning entries and an unlimited number of runners-up will see their quips added to the randomly rotating cartoon in the header of the About The Festival section of the NYAACF website. The three top winning entries will each receive two tickets to the NYAACF Film Night and Closing Party on 17 November 2005. The retail value of each pair of tickets is $30. Prizes may not be exchanged for cash equivalent.

6. The competition period is from Tuesday 1 November 2005 to 11:59PM EST on Sunday 6 November 2005. The competition is open to people who live in the United States and other countries. This competition is void where prohibited by law. No purchase or donation is necessary to enter the competition.

7. This competition is organized and sponsored by the New York Arab-American Comedy Festival (NYAACF). NYAACF's mailing address is 338 E. 70th St., Suite 3A New York, NY 10021.

8. NYAACF will pay any shipping cost for delivery of prizes. The recipient of the prize is solely responsible for paying any taxes or customs charges that may be associated with winning such a prize.
