Ahmed Amer

Ahmed Amer grew up in Cairo watching Egyptian films and acquired an obsession with cinema. His field of study at the university was Construction Engineering but he attended acting and directing classes at the American University in Cairo as well as UCLA.

After working in the banking field for six years, he decided that he wanted to pursue his childhood dream and become a film writer and director. He moved to New York City in 2003 and started making films.

Ahmed wrote and directed two short films and is working on a feature length script to be shot in Cairo. He also works in editing and production of documentary films in New York.

His last short film A Good Family was shown in film festivals in New York and Cairo and got a certificate of recognition from the Sakiet El Sawy Short Film Festival in February 2005.
